“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.” (ESV – Read the chapter)

There are two great truths that come out of this passage. One of them is deeply personal and has been greatly encouraging to me for many years. The other is prophetically cultural. During the course of his first campaign for President, Barack Obama was asked a question about his thoughts on sex education in schools. His answer was unintentionally a great deal more revealing than he perhaps wanted of a worldview belief far more common today than it ought to be. On this particular occasion he was asked whether he supported students being taught an abstinence-only curriculum or preferred one that included lessons on various methods of contraception, including abortion.
