Morning Musing: Acts 1:22

“beginning from the baptism of John until the day he was taken up from us — from among these, it is necessary that one become a witness with us of his resurrection.”‬‬ (CSB – Read the chapter

What is the foundation of the church? What is the thing that if you removed it, the church would crumble into dust? There’s an old hymn that would seem to give us the answer to that question. It goes like this: “The church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ, her Lord; she is His new creation by water and the Word; from heav’n He came and sought her, to be His holy bride; with His own blood He bought her, and for her life He died.” So that’s it then? Digging in Deeper: Acts 4:1-2

“While they were speaking to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple police, and the Sadducees confronted them, because they were annoyed that they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.”‬‬ (CSB – Read the chapter

Have you ever been asked the conversation-starting question of with whom in history you would most like to have dinner?  I’ve heard several people answer that they would like to have dinner with Jesus because who wouldn’t want to have dinner with Jesus?  I’ll tell you who: Just about everyone who actually did.  From the various reports of people eating with Jesus in the Gospels, He would have been a terrible dinner guest. “Therefore, O King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision.”  (ESV – Read the chapter)
