Digging in Deeper: 2 Samuel 24:24

Sometimes a verse of Scripture means something obvious in its context, but at the same time points forward toward a broader, deeper truth that is foundational to a life of successfully following after Jesus. This is one of those verses.

Morning Musings: Colossians 3:17

“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to the God the Father through him.”  (ESV – Read the chapter)

Have you ever wondered what it is you need to do in order to honor Christ?  Here Paul gives us a very simple test to know whether or not we’re on track.  Is it done in the name of Jesus out of a grateful heart?  If so, it is going to be honoring of Him.  If not, it won’t be.  Simple, right? Morning Musings: 1 Corinthians 7:20

“Each one should remain in the condition in which he was called.”  (ESV – Read the chapter)

This verse fairly well serves as the theme for the whole second half of chapter 7 here.  Paul’s point over the course of a number of different examples is that we can serve God in whatever state in which we currently find ourselves.  God can and will take us wherever we are.  There are no circumstances in which we cannot advance His kingdom into the world around us in ways both big and small.   Read the rest…
