“…let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.” (ESV – Read the chapter)
This is the tail end of an incredible argument that has stretched on for several chapters focused on the greatness of Jesus, our high priest. He is infinitely superior to the old system of priests and sacrifices that had been laid out under the law of the old covenant. Because of Him, through Him, we draw near to God with boldness and confidence of being received.
Jesus is the great mediator between us and God. He is our intermediary. We go through Him and can get there every time. What’s more, we can hold fast to our confession of faith because of the faithfulness of the one whom we have confessed to be Lord. He will never waver in His commitment to us. He will never leave us nor forsake us. Because of that, we need never waver in our hope in Him.
Stand firm, therefore, and don’t let the world blow you off course. Hang on tightly to your faith, because there is no power in this world that can ultimately overcome you when you are standing in Him. Your journey will lead you home. It will lead you home into your Father’s arms.
